ABOUT

Visual artist and filmmaker whose work has been exhibited in over 15 countries. In 2022, she was admitted into the prestigious Mexican National System of Art Creators (SNCA, FONCA) and has twice been a recipient of the FONCA Young Creators grant. Garcia is represented by Ángulo Cero gallery (Mexico) and ammann//gallery (Germany). Her work is featured in the I.C.A. Foundation Collection in Mexico, and was part of the collection’s retrospective show at the Dolores Olmedo Museum in Mexico City.

Garcia directed the documentary film Relato Familiar, which premiered in the international competition of Visions du Réel 2017 (Nyon, Switzerland) and screened at numerous film festivals, including HotDocs, Ann Arbor, and Hiroshima. The film won "Best Documentary Short Film" at the Morelia International Film Festival and was nominated by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Art and Sciences in 2018. Relato Familiar was also part of the Tribeca Film Institute's IF/THEN Shorts program for Cathay Airlines. Garcia's short film Los Años was screened at over 10 international film festivals and screenings, including the experimental “Nuevos Caminos” section of the Valdivia International Film Festival (Chile). Her first feature film, Yūrei (ghosts), will be premiered in 2023.

Garcia's production work includes positions on films such as Eco de la Montaña by Nicolás Echevarría (Berlinale 2015), Resurrección by Eugenio Polgovsky, and Red Privada by Manuel Alcalá (Netfix). She also produced Los Ojos del Mar by Jose Álvarez (Visions du Réel, 2017) and served as associate producer of Kwaku Ananse by the artist Akosua Adoma Owusu (Berlinale 2013).
